Acer today announced the new Aspire R 13 (R7-372T) convertible notebook, offering maximum usability and graceful transitions between a variety of user modes, while packed with leading edge technologies for a faster, more productive, and versatile user experience.
Graceful Transitions. Infinitely Adaptive.
The Aspire R 13 makes use of Acer’s patented Ezel Aero Hinge™ that supports six modes: Users can maximize productivity with the most efficient method of keyboard input in classic Laptop mode, and switch to Display mode by hiding the keyboard at the back or laying 180 degrees flat, ideal for collaborating, sharing and entertainment. Converting to Tent mode gives users the option to use in a confined space, while a masterfully-crafted magnet design allows the device to be fully converted into Pad mode – without any gaps whatsoever. Transitioning to Ezel™ mode makes it possible to tilt the screen to angles that suit exact viewing needs, and with Stand mode, users can use an Acer Active Pen to draw and take notes on the display, as if on an easel.
The innovative Ezel Aero Hinge™ provides graceful transformation between modes, with a sturdy U-frame structure made of die-casted magnesium-alloys die-casting that enhances stiffness while maintaining a slim design. The patented 180-degree rotatable “center” hinge allows users to adjust the screen to any angle, while the dual-torque “system” hinge provides a wobble free touch experience and easy screen-opening. With this innovation, the Aspire R 13 is infinitely adaptive with maximum usability – from using as a regular notebook, to using the hinge to clamp it to a cubicle, or even enjoying a movie on the sofa while cleverly shifting the weight of the device to the user’s lap.
The Aspire R 13 supports Thunderbolt™ 3 which brings Thunderbolt to USB Type-C at speeds up to 40Gbps - eight times faster than USB 3.0 - creating one compact port that does it all, delivering the fastest, most versatile connection to any dock, device, or display. Thunderbolt 3 unlocks the possibility of connecting to an external graphics device for serious gaming needs. In addition, the Aspire R 13 can be configured with 2 SSDs in a RAID-0 setup to provide twice the data throughput rate.
Powerful Performance
Just 18.5 mm thin, and weighing in at just 1.6 kg, the Aspire R 13 incorporates powerful 6th Gen Intel® Core™ processors. The new processors have been designed to improve performance, graphics, and battery life – so consumers can be confident while powering through productivity tasks.
“The Acer Aspire convertible PCs, powered by the new 6th Gen Intel Core processors, will offer incredible performance and long battery life in a sleek design, designed for people who want both power and mobility,” said Kirk Skaugen, Intel senior vice president and general manager, Client Computing Group. “The 6th Gen Intel Core processor is our best processor ever, enabling the perfect combination of productivity and flexibility for the Acer convertible PCs.”
For faster connection speeds, new additions to the Aspire R 13 include Qualcomm® VIVE™ 2x2 802.11ac Wi-Fi with Qualcomm® MU | EFX MU-MIMO technology, allowing up to three times faster1 downloads compared to other 802.11ac products, especially in crowded networks.
“Qualcomm MU | EFX MU-MIMO technology holds tremendous benefit for the connected user experience, and we’re pleased to provide this option for Acer’s new Aspire R Series notebooks,” said Rahul Patel, senior vice president and general manager, connectivity, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “With Qualcomm MU-MIMO in computing devices, smartphones, routers and access points, we are anticipating users will experience faster, more efficient network availability for downloading, streaming, browsing and gaming.”
Hardware Suited for Work and Play
The Aspire R 13 has a built-in Precision Touchpad (PTP) that enhances the accuracy and performance of touchpad navigation, where consumers can tap, swipe, scroll, and zoom more easily than ever, and instantly become more efficient and productive with new three- and four-finger touchpad gestures supported by Windows 10. Acer TrueHarmony Plus with Dolby® Audio™ provide powerful audio with immersive surround.

1. MU-MIMO availability and specification will vary depending on model and region. To achieve the best performance, both the transmitter and receiver must support MU-MIMO. The product is based on an IEEE 802.11ac draft specification and multi user scenario. Actual speed will vary based on range, connection rate, site conditions, size of network, and other factors. The claim of up to 3x faster transmission speed is valid only under scenario when wireless AP supports 4 MU streams.
